Turner Valley Outdoor Rink
CLOSED for the season
There’s no better feeling than heading outdoors on a beautiful winter day, strapping on the skates and flying along the ice. The Turner Valley Outdoor Rink is between the Flare ’n Derrick and the Dr. Lander swimming pool.
This rink is unsupervised, and it is recommended that children or inexperienced skaters use an approved helmet while on the ice to prevent
injuries. This outdoor skating rink is weather dependent and is typically open from mid-late December through February and is flooded and cleaned as resources permit on weekdays and by registered volunteers on weekends.
Residents can access this rink free of charge throughout the winter months. Rinks are considered to be closed when temperatures reach -20°C or greater. This facility is maintained once temperatures are low enough to sustain the ice surface by parks and recreation staff, registered volunteers, and those who choose to use the rink.
- Remember to bring your shovel after a snowfall!
- Please stay off the ice while it is being flooded or cleared of snow.
- Please be courteous to other skaters.
- Public “Skating” times are designated for skating only. No hockey sticks, pucks or balls permitted.
- Rink lights are on until 10pm. Rinks are not for public use after this time.
All users participate at their own risk. We ask parents to encourage children to respect the above times. Appropriate safety equipment is strongly recommended.
