Public Works Department of Diamond Valley
The Public Works department is integral to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure and services that support Diamond Valley, ensuring it remains a functional and comfortable place to live. The department's responsibilities are crucial for the smooth operation of daily life in the community.
Services Provided
The Public Works department manages and maintains many essential systems throughout the town:
Potable Water Distribution System: The Utilities department ensures all residents have access to clean and safe drinking water daily, maintaining the infrastructure that delivers water to homes and businesses.
Wastewater Collection System: The Utilities department also manages the Town's sewage and wastewater collection systems; ensuring efficient and safe transport to treatment facilities, safeguarding public health and the environment.
Road Maintenance and Repairs: The Roads department is committed to keeping the town’s roadways safe and navigable, including filling potholes, resurfacing roads and line painting.
Snow Removal: During the winter months, snow removal services are critical in keeping streets clear of snow and ice, ensuring safe passage for vehicles and pedestrians. Both the Roads and Parks departments are responsible for various aspects of snow removal throughout Diamond Valley.
Parks and Pathways Maintenance: The Parks Department manages and preserves the natural beauty and functionality of Diamond Valley's parks, pathways and public spaces. The team is responsible for regular upkeep, including landscaping, tree trimming, and repairs to ensure safe and accessible outdoor spaces for residents and visitors.
Solid Waste Collection: The Public Works & Operations Manager oversees the contract with the Town of Okotoks to conduct regular collection of household garbage, recycling, and organic waste; contributing to community cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Recreation Services: The Recreation department oversees the operation of Town recreational amenities including the arena and skating rinks, the outdoor swimming pool and spray park, and the Diamond Valley Municipal Campground.
Facilities and Equipment Maintenance: The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining town-owned facilities, including various buildings and public spaces that serve the community, as well as the upkeep of specialized equipment and motorized vehicles needed for its services.
