Starting a Business in Diamond Valley

Step One - Apply for a Development Permit

To establish a business in the Town of Diamond Valley, the first step is often to obtain a development permit for the location where the business will reside.  A Home Occupation Permit, Commercial Occupancy Permit, or Change of Use Permit may be required depending on the location.  One of our Planning & Development staff members can assist you in determining what permits or approvals you need prior to opening.

Step Two - Obtain a Town Business Licence

Once the Development Permit is approved, businesses are required to apply for a Business Licence, which is annually renewable with the Town of Diamond Valley.

  • At the time of application, the Town may require or request to see any licences, permits, certificates and other documents of qualification required under any Town bylaw or any statute of Canada or of Province of Alberta (ie AGLC, AMVIC & AHS etc.).
  • In order to obtain your Town Business Licence, a fire inspection may be required as determined by the scope of your operations and current Town policy.

Step Three - Register your business with the Province of Alberta
